Water Efficiency Mobilization – Informative Notice

Dear ÖzÜ Members,

The “Water Efficiency Mobilization” is an initiative developed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, aiming to ensure sustainable welfare, maintain healthy and high-quality living standards, and leave a strong legacy for future generations. This initiative refers to the principle of “zero loss” in water resources, meaning achieving the same benefit with less water or obtaining greater benefit with the same amount of water.

Özyeğin University continues to adopt and implement an environmentally responsible approach through its LEED Gold-certified green buildings and the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System it has maintained since 2014. In addition, the institutional water footprint is regularly calculated and reported in accordance with the ISO 14046 Water Footprint Standard. In 2025, Özyeğin University became the first university to be awarded the ISO 46001 Water Efficiency Management System Certification. Within this scope, the 2025–2026 academic year has been declared the “Year of Water,” and reducing water consumption has been included among the university’s strategic goals. Furthermore, regular reporting is carried out in line with the Water Efficiency Regulation and the Communiqué on Principles and Procedures for Drought-Resistant Landscaping Practices. The application process for the “Blue Water Certificate” has also been completed, and the results are currently pending.

The Water Efficiency Mobilization is coordinated by the Sustainability and Quality Unit with the support of the Technical Services Unit.
